During use, the pyramids wear down, exposing new, equally sharp grains, resulting in long-lasting disks and a smooth surface finish.

Coarser grits are recommended for preparing the surfaces of composite elements, finishing the body surfaces before applying primer or the final layer of paint.

Finer grits are recommended for matting primers and base coats, shading surfaces, removing local surface defects, and matting final surfaces before polishing.
